Community Involvement

The 24th Street Merchants Association
Fifth Annual Business Forum

September 5, 1997 - Bank of the Orient strongly supports local small business entrepreneurs and merchants. As evidence of this commitment, we hosted the 24th Street Merchants Association’s 5th Annual Business Forum in San Francisco, which was attended by area merchants, city, county, and federal government representatives and local community organizations dedicated to assisting aspiring small business people with the business start-up process.

With input from local merchants about the topics most relevant to their livelihoods, the Forum provided an opportunity for local small business owners to listen to, and ask questions of, knowledgeable guest panelists as they discussed a wide range of issues. Representatives from Bank of the Orient (Tim Webster, Branch Manager - Main, and Ken Arevalo, Account Officer - Main) and the Mission Economic Development Association covered the small business loan application process. The panelists advised attendees on how to select the right lender for their credit needs and explained the capital and credit criteria lenders look at when evaluating small business loan applications.
