Community Involvement

Annual Neighborhood Festivals

As a community bank based in Bay Area neighborhoods, Bank of the Orient believes it is important to contribute back to the communities that so loyally provide us with their business. Every year we support the Oakland StreetFest and the Chinatown Moon Festival Street Fair. In addition to providing financial support in the form of a grant, the Bank’s neighborhood branch offices actively participate by sponsoring and volunteering in a festival booth.

August 23-24, 1997 - The Oakland StreetFest is one of the largest and best attended neighborhood festivals in the East Bay. Local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and restaurants set up booths, and there were also crafts demonstrations, music and dance performances, and games for children. Over 100,000 people attended, ranging from the very young to the very old.

September 13-14, 1997 - The San Francisco Chinatown Harvest Moon Festival is one of the best known neighborhood festivals in Bay Area. San Francisco’s Chinatown has been around for over a century and in fact is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city. Like the Oakland StreetFest, community groups and businesses from the neighborhood participated by hosting booths with games, information, and free gifts.
