Ernest Go founded Bank of the Orient in 1971 with the vision that it would serve as a link between businesses in the US and in Asia, through the world of international trade. As a demonstration of this focus, Bank of the Orient is the only bank of its size that can boast of a full-service international trade finance and services division. Unlike most other financial institutions today, the Bank has experienced an unusual level of continuity and reliability among its staff, mainly through the steady presence of Mr. Go. Throughout the years, he has provided a strong and constant vision for the Bank, as it has grown from just one branch in the Financial District, to currently five branches in the Bay Area and one in Xiamen, China. Mr. Go’s down-to-earth attitude and hands-on approach have made the bank what it is today -- a premier, full-service financial institution that provides unparalleled customer service and a friendly familiarity that is rarely found elsewhere. Mr. Go has been an active member of the Bay Area community for several decades, participating in a wide variety of civic and nonprofit organization. Currently, he is on the Board of Directors of the Golden Gate University, encouraging the institution in its plans to expand international and overseas programs. He also serves on the Board of the Center for Pacific Rim Studies at the University of San Francisco.
